Room to move.

The last 2 weeks has been a blur.

I am sitting here at my kitchen table. In our new house. In North Austin. Watching Henry play in the backyard. And I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I GOT HERE!

Ok, I have somewhat of an idea. It was through the help of our amazing friends. They are seriously seriously great. They showed up at our apartment 2 weeks ago, helped us move out, moved everything into the new place, and even brought donuts and helped me unpack. I don’t know what we would have done without them.

Unfortunately, the day after we got all of our stuff into the house, life picked up some speed. I mean, it went from zero to sixty in a matter of hours. Josh had a crazy stressful 6 days in a row at work, school started kicking my butt, a got a 2 day stomach virus, I was still trying to unpack, and THEN Josh’s dad came into town for Father’s Day.

I am so grateful that this week has been quite a bit more controlled, because I truly felt like I was losing it last week. Now that things are calm for like five minutes, I can officially say that I love our house and our neighborhood and I especially love the people we share this area with. We had a small impromptu cook-out last night for the basketball game, and my heart was just jumping for joy that we can do things like that without asking people to drive a half hour to see us.

Here are some photos from the crazy past few weeks. Amid the messiness of life and all its rough edges, I am so very grateful.

Our sweet friends gathered round’ the table after they helped move us in.

I finally got around to painting an old storage shelf we had. It looks pretty in our new kitchen.

If I can successfully finish all 938474 of my school assignments before the class ends next week, I’ll be in great shape to actually start having a super duper great Summer. Cheers!!

On the Move!

The Codys are on the move again!

Yes, we are moving…again…but not across the country like usual. We have already been in Austin longer than we’ve lived in any other city since we got married (hard to believe) and now that we’ve seriously fallen in love with this town, we figure it’s time to start loving where we sleep at night too.

This crappy apartment has served us well for the past 2 years. We have done a lot of living and laughing and hosting people in this place. We will definitely miss living in “SoLa” with all its quirkiness. But we are BEYOND excited for this change.

It was actually a miracle that we were able to rent this house we are moving to. There is a major housing shortage in austin, due to the 300 people per day that move here (literally). Our budget was pretty small for the prices that people ask for their homes. We were becoming more and more sure that we would actually end up in a different crappy apartment…But then we heard those blessed words from a man who was showing us his house last weekend. “It’s yours if you want it!”

So, North Austin in is. Close to many of our dear friends. Close to many a great restaurant. Farther from Josh’s work, which may be tough, but it should be do-able.

Hooray for new adventures and opportunities and a big backyard for my Henry boy to play in.
