Sad news to report. Josh and I are stuck in our icky apartment for another year. It was a tough decision to make, considering how unattached we are to this place. But somehow the rent in this daggum city is outrageously more expensive than anywhere else we have ever lived. That is actually a huge understatement. So here we are with our beige carpet and cracked bathroom mirrors for the next 13 months. Le sigh. Sorry for the bad attitude…working on it.
The good news is we are saving a lot of money by staying, and have decided to go ahead and spend a little of that money to make our apartment a little more enjoyable. BUT we need your help. Our living room has been pretty empty looking since we moved in. Just a couch and a lamp. So yeah…time for a change.
The main question is coffee table vs ottoman. We cant afford a sectional at the moment, and I love the idea of laying on the couch without feeling bad for taking up all the space. Josh, however loves the idea if setting his coffee down as he reads on the couch in the mornings. Decisions decisions..
Opinions are welcome here.
Option 1: white rug, blue ikea ottoman to match the couch. Below is the rug we’d use. It is white enough in person to stand out against our nasty beige carpet.
Option 2: blue Ikea rug with white ottoman. Below is the carpet we bought and might return.
Option 3: blue rug, white coffee table. This was Josh’s pick for the room, and it looks good set up. I just have to wonder if the table is way to big for the tiny space. It also doesn’t match well with our wooden tv stand. Here it is:
I realized after taking these that Henry managed to make an appearance in every. single. one. He follows me around 24/7 and I can’t say that I love it. He is completely obnoxious.
So there is my ridiculous rant about mediocre looking furnishings. I wish I could say I was creative and good with this sort of thing.
Have an awesome weekend everyone! I’ll be hanging out with my 2 favorite little boys for the next few days 🙂 🙂
Caroline
what about an ottomon where the coffee table is and then a side table where the right rug is standing for josh’s coffee? win win 🙂 i do like the white coffee table too but i’m wondering what an orange rug would like instead of the blue one? but oh how i love henry in every photo and his different poses!! 🙂
Ohhh Ashley you were supposed to pick one of my options instead of think up BETTER ones! Haha I totally think an orange rug would look better now that I think about it. I might have to make the trip back to IKEA just to see what they have…
Caro-O. I LOVE the blue carpet and white coffee table. It serves the same purpose as an ottoman, putting your feet up, but you also get a little extra storage. Looks really cute!
Thanks Lisa 🙂 It’s growing on me I think. I agree the storage is very very nice. I actually have somewhere to put our remotes now!
Henry is in all the pictures? Oh, there he is…wow he totally blends in
