Okay, so considering there have been some big changes in the lives of Josh and myself recently, I’ve decided that the time has come for me to share them publicly!

Firstly, and most excitingly, I am now an official employee of a local bank called Columbia Credit Union. My first day is this coming Tuesday, January 19th, and I am pretty stoked about this opportunity. I could potentially keep my job at Olive Garden for the time being, but I’m not sure what will happen. I worked at a bank back in Athens, GA for a year, and it was such a perfect way to get plugged into the community and meet people there. That’s definitely what I am most looking forward to 🙂 Oh, and also having a normal people sleep schedule! YEAH!

Some other news that I hesitate to share publicly (for fear of failure) is that the husband and I decided to train for the Race for the Roses Half Marathon in April…yikes. A few of our friends started training for it recently, and I guess the decision was partly us being tired of being out of shape, and part peer pressure. The worst part about it has been the freezing cold air burning my lungs with every run, and I am now WAY too excited for this blasted Winter to be over. I don’t think I have seen the sun in 3 weeks!

I can’t wait for the city to be SUNNY again!

And did anyone know that The Simpsons town of Springfield is based on Portland, Oregon? And that the names of a bunch of the characters on the show are from street names downtown? Crazy, huh?

Well thanks for stopping by, and if you could keep praying for Portland, we’d appreciate it! God’s up to something huge here, and Josh and I are just beginning to get our feet wet in all He has for us in this amazing place!

New Years!!

Happy New Year blogworld!

Hope everyone had a safe and fun new year. I had the night off work, ate an incredible dinner with friends and played 3 full games of Cranium. I’d say that’s a win!

I’ve learned my lesson about assuming any new year will bring less surprises and changes than the last…So I’m going to stick with saying that there is NO telling what this year holds. There are a lot of goals we’ve set for the next 365 days, however…

First, there’s the typical health goals that one sets for themselves each year. Josh’s big endeavor is giving up all soda for the entire year. We’re also going to run together more and yadda yadda.

The second set of goals for the year for me involve figuring out what in the world I’m here for. Not here in Portland, but here as in planet earth. (insert joke about me being an alien) All kidding aside, though, I REALLY want some direction for my life. I know my strengths, but I haven’t yet found my passion. Something is definitely missing here, and this is the year that I find out what it is and pursue the heck out of it! At least that’s what I’m praying for…

That’s all for now! Happy turn of the decade everyone!

Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
